Can anyone give me the words to "The Pony Driver Song"?   You can see Ruth and Sadie Price singing it on youtube.   Thanks

I think it's on our website www.yorkshirefolksong.net

PONY DRIVER'S SONG

This may be it
I am a driver, these are me tubs
Ah'm off the road, boys, an my pony rubs
Where is the doggy, nobody knows
E'll be aht on the pass-by picking 'is nose.

I sall be glad when this shift is done
Then Ah'll be up there aht in the sun
Tha'll be dahn 'ere boy in this dark 'oil
Still grumblin' an' groanin' pullin' this coil.

Corn's in the manger, watter's in t'trough
Tha'll shove thi nose aht when tha's 'ad enough
Ah'll tek thee in t'standin an' drop off thi gears,
When Ah come back Ah know tha'll be 'ere.

This and other Yorkshire songs at
YORKSHIRE GARLAND

This song was performed by that genial Tyke from Batley/Dewsbury area BILL PRICE who was Ruth and Sadie's father. Bill had a great abundance of vibrato in his voice which was, in my humble opinion, very endearing.
