Bitter Withy were a popular folk harmony trio from Edinburgh, active mid 60s to 72?

Tich Frier, Lesley Hale & Andy Ramage.

Oh My God! Does this make me feel old or what?

I remember booking Andy and Tich, separately, with their then folk partners, whose names escape me now (although one was someones brother I think), at a fund raising concert for our youth club. It was at the YWCA in Edinburgh (The old Triangle Folk Club)

I think they got £1 per duo as I recall! This was ?1967? perhaps?

It was some time later they formed Bitter Withy

Hey - just sent a shiver down my spine. She's the reason I sing!
Litle explanation:
I first heard Lesley on 'cassette' as I worked at Stirling Castle Central Scotland in 1976..... I bought the tape when I left the shop and went off to the Army. I sang Find me an Island endlessly.
Years on I moved to Beverley East Yorkshire and joined the pub singarounds. My twin came to visit - liked the idea of pub singing (who wouldn't) and found a club south of Edinburgh - sang Find me an Island and was asked who had written it.....and the lady who asked the question realised she had actually worked with Lesley at the Library.....so my sister wrote to Lesley (who's guitar was in the wardrobe with a broken neck)and now they're great friends and sing together (with others) at the 'Nitten' Folk Club, Newtongrange on Thursdays -
I'll phone my twin and -if the thread originator will PM me I'll get you in touch!
PS Just noted that this thread it a teeny bit old!!
