Any song or music sessions in the Selby area? Will be visiting quite a lot in the future.

Hi Wheatman.

There's the First Sunday Club on (you guessed it) the first Sunday of the month at The Crown in Hemingbrough and much the same crowd on the third Sunday in the month at The Ferryman in Thorganby (bit tricky to find - go out of the village heading towards York and turn right down a little lane - there a pub sign on the corner.)Both start at around 8 pm. They tend to be a pretty eclectic mix of acoustic stuff so don't expect out-and-out folk. Both are run by Mick O'Hara. We tend not to go that often these days due to family commitments but they're a friendly bunch and you'll be welcome

On the first Thursday of the month there's Folk in the Bar at The Junction in Goole, headed up by ace blues guitarist, Martyn Barker. Haven't been yet but reputed to be good.

Then, a bit further afiend, there's the famous Black Swan Folk Club in York on Thursday nights. You can google the details.

Have fun - may see you around at some time.

Also, I believe that there are sessions of some sort at the pub in Burn and in Rawcliffe, but not sure about the details.

Music Session next weds and every fortnight at the Jemmy Hirst, Riverside, Rawcliffe - this coming Weds (6th)and every other one. In between weeks are between 4 other pubs in Thorne, Hook, Clifford and probably Hirst Courtney (but that may be on a Tuesday). It's the Southern Arms ("Heppy's") in Hook the week after next.

I've only got a few more weeks of them left, because I'm flitting up north!

Andrea

Great stuff. I doubt if we'll be there, but say 'Hi' from Pete and Jools.
