Subject: RE: Festivals 2011 From: GUEST,Captain Farrell Date: 02 Oct 10 - 09:58 AM Thanks Rafflesbear but yours is a list of festivals what we need is info from the people running festivals that they are going with it or are pulling out, as some festivals this year cancelled very near the w/e because of financial concerns.Rgds. Captain Farrell |
Subject: RE: Festivals 2011 From: Rafflesbear Date: 02 Oct 10 - 10:05 AM Then you will only be able to get your information very near the weekend of the event and certainly not in October the year before - you can't have it both ways Why did you not take the matter up with Green Man, Tim Chesterton, Derek Schofield, and Liberty Boy? Probably best to wait until the event is over and then you can be sure |
Subject: RE: Festivals 2011 (non-exclusive to region) From: GUEST,John from Kemsing Date: 02 Oct 10 - 10:53 AM In Britain there are now so many events(music and dance of all genres) that are promoted under the name of "festivals" that it really devalues the currency. Could we not preserve that honour for the established high profile events and regard other as enjoyable weekend sessions? |
Subject: RE: Festivals 2011 (non-exclusive to region) From: Rafflesbear Date: 02 Oct 10 - 11:05 AM Surely it's easy to find out when the big ones are - it's the grass roots festivals where we need the information, but if we can't mention them here until the weekend before it's no use to anyone anyway |
Subject: RE: Festivals 2011 (non-exclusive to region) From: GUEST,Derek Schofield Date: 02 Oct 10 - 03:03 PM I am about to start compiling the festivals 2011 list for the next ieeue of English Dance & Song (to be published end of November in time for the AFO conference). I don't make any distinction between the big well-known festival and the smaller, "grassroots" festivals. I just need dates, contact details for the organiser/festival office (address, phone number etc), an email address and a website (if there is one). The EDS list is not unique (fRoots has a list as well) but the EDS list is the first one published! Rafflesbear's list is useful! thanks. Please post your festival details here or email me on eds.editor "at" efdss.org Thanks Derek |
Subject: RE: Festivals 2011 (non-exclusive to region) From: GUEST,Derek Schofield Date: 02 Oct 10 - 03:09 PM Sorry, for got to mention that I restrict the list to England and Wales, apart from a couple in Scotland. Main reason for this is the space that the list takes up and the focus of the magazine (which is not exclusively England, so perhaps the list restriction is illogical! But that's how it is at the moment....) Derek |
Subject: RE: Festivals 2011 (non-exclusive to region) From: GUEST,Captain Farrell Date: 02 Oct 10 - 04:14 PM That sounds like a good idea Derek |
