Subject: RE: Dan Schatz CD and book release Oct 2010 From: maeve Date: 03 Mar 11 - 10:04 AM I've been listening to "The Song and the Sigh" Cd and reading the book. It's a lovely album with interesting reading. I really like the packaging, as well. Dan's vocals and instrumental work are most enjoyable and carefully balanced by contributions from other skilled musicians. Well done, Dan, and thank you. Maeve |
Subject: RE: Dan Schatz CD and book release Oct 2010 From: Dan Schatz Date: 12 Nov 10 - 01:50 PM CD Baby surprised me last week by asking me to send an additional 9 copies. I did, so there are PLENTY in stock for folks who want to pick this up. Next step, and I'm late on this - getting the airplay (non-book) packaging finished. In the meantime, if any DJ types are interested in the full package, book and all, please pm me with your address. Dan |

Subject: RE: Dan Schatz CD and book release Oct 2010 From: Dan Schatz Date: 07 Oct 10 - 01:08 PM I'm still waiting to hear from CDBaby. It may take them some extra figuring, since they have to deal with a hardcover book that isn't so easy to scan. Should be up any day now, I hope. Dan |

Subject: RE: Dan Schatz CD and book release Oct 2010 From: Charley Noble Date: 05 Oct 10 - 08:38 AM Dan- It's a beautifully produced CD and book. Voices and music impeccably recorded/edited and a nice choice of songs with a theme. Love the harmonies! It was nice to listen to in the van as I was driving home from Getaway through greater New Jersey in the rain! Cheerily, Charley Noble |

Subject: Dan Schatz CD and book release Oct 2010 From: Dan Schatz Date: 04 Oct 10 - 01:48 PM It was a year and a half in the making, but my new CD and book, The Song and the Sigh, is finally out and should be available from CDBaby soon. The CD features harmony vocals and additional instrumentation from Magpie, Carly Gewirz, Lisa Null, Charlie Pilzer and George Stephens, and was recorded by Pete Reiniger of Smithsonian Folkways and mixed and mastered by Charlie Pilzer. Some of the songs are my own; most come from other folks - all of them carry a great deal of meaning for me. I said CD and book, and it is - the CD is packaged in a CD sized 65 page hardcover book of lyrics and reflections. There will be a release concert at the BuxMont Unitarian Universalist Fellowship - 2040 Street Rd. in Warrington, PA, a northern suburb of Philadelphia - on Saturday October 16, 2010 with special guests Magpie. The concert starts at 7pm, so you can get there from New York or Washington and still be home before too late (hint hint). The songs on the album are: The Reign of the Fair Maid (Jake Walton) Pictures in Their Eyes (Dan Schatz) Brother Warrior (Kate Wolf) Swimming to the Other Side (Pat Humphries) Prayer (Dan Schatz) When the Mist Clears Away (Larry Groce) Going On (Lois Lyman) A Little Gracefulness (John Calvi) Daylight Song (Dan Schatz) If I Sing (Cindy Kallet) The Strength Within (Dan Schatz) Hands Across the Waters (Dan Schatz) Everything Possible (Fred Small) Amarok [Song of the Wolf] (Greg Artzner and Terry Leonino) Keep On Keepin' On (Len Chandler) What Will I Leave? (Si Kahn) The Song and the Sigh (Henry Lawson/ Dan Schatz) I'll let everyone know when it's officially up for sale on CDBaby - the digital release will take longer, but to be honest, I'd prefer people bought the book and CD for this one - they go together and an mp3 just isn't the same. I hope folks enjoy the CD. I know some picked it up at the Getaway. Dan |
