Subject: Obit: Alison Stephens From: Tattie Bogle Date: 10 Oct 10 - 07:32 PM I was very sad to read on another forum of the untimely death yesterday of Alison Stephens, world renowned classical mandolinist, from cancer. I had only seen her perform once, last year, at Edinburgh Festival Fringe, but it was an inspiring experience, for her sheer artistry with a variety of different mandolins, the enthusiastic and interesting background information given on each instrument, and the warmth of her personality. RIP Alison. |

Subject: RE: Obit: Alison Stephens From: GUEST,Julian Marks Date: 11 Oct 10 - 11:02 AM Alison was the helf-sister of one of my closest friends, and I first met her when she was in her teens. She was a magnificently gifted musician, and a delightful person to know. She gave a concert with my late father in the early 90s and I was also priviledged to have her perform at my own wedding reception. I was truly devasted to hear of her illness and untimely death. My heartfelt sympathies to her mother Jackie and her partner and the rest of the family. |

Subject: RE: Obit: mandolinist Alison Stephens (Oct 2010) From: GUEST,Neil Smith ex Duo Rosso with Alison Date: 12 Oct 10 - 02:38 PM Terrible news...I cannot believe it. I can still see Alison in the market in Dubai before we played for the Sheik. Watching tv on the plane over the Zagros Mountains with champers as Alison said in her best accent "Don't worry Neil my owl mate! They ain't gonna shoot us down, not til' we've played!" God bless you Alison, your great fun personality and your music will be missed by us all. Your life was so special. xxx Neil |
