Whilst browsing a title on my new Vernon Dahlhart collection, I came across the above resource, The Waltz Music Library -- Ben Gray Lumpkin Digital Folk Music Collection. It contains at least hundreds of folk and old time music titles. Many of the field recordings (seems like most early 1960s) can be streamed online. The site also provides variant titles and links to recordings of those. It does not, however, list commercial recordings of the various songs.

Lovely site...I plan to visit often.

"The Ben Gray Lumpkin Collection is an archive of the folk songs that were collected and recorded by Ben Gray Lumpkin while he was a professor of English at the University of Colorado, Boulder. He traveled throughout Colorado, recording the songs that were remembered and sung by people who were living in Colorado between 1950 and 1970. The original collection contains approximately 2,000 performances by 192 individuals.

"This Digital Audio Folk Song Collection provides a sampling of the recorded songs contained in the Ben Gray Lumpkin Collection."

THANK YOU, John! Listening now...from what I can see, his collecting was limited to the eastern slope, so nothing from my dad or other rellys, but still wonderful stuff!! This will be a favourite to share with my grandson and other family.
