Couldnt find anything in Search , but I am trying to find who is to blame for this Canal Based ReWrite of the N E Coal Mine song Little Chance - First verse I have is :-

I had a Single Bollinder it was a fine machine
It used to run like hell in the night when all its parts were clean
I wound it up one morning at the bottom of Itchington Ten
It went right through the BaskYard Pound before it fired again

I am pretty sure I have ALL the verses , and the tune and chords , its the Original Author I am looking for !
Ta V M !

Any chance of posting the rest of the words, and the tune? I've a friend with a part-share in a Bollinder-powered boat who I'm sure would be interested in this.

Can't help with the author, I'm afraid.

Don't know this one, but there is a different song involving a Bollinder on "Songs of a changing world" by Jon Raven, Nic Jones, & Tony Rose.

Something like:
"With a bang like the sound of a ten pounder gun,
The ancient old Bollinder started to run"

Also to be found, with nearly 200 other canal related songs on Songs of the Inland Waterways . Any additional information about 'The Single Bolinder' or any other canal song would be most welcome.

And the mondegreen is . . .

I had a single bollinder and it was a fine machine. It used to run like Eleanor Knight when all it's parts were clean.
