There will be a fund-raising concert for the Gena Hegarty Orphanage in Haiti at the Portobello Hotel, South Richmond St., Dublin 8, on Friday 3 December. Niamh Parsons will be the main singer, with a number of guests from the Dublin folk scene (details to follow).

The night will start with a trad session/sing-around at 7:00 PM (all welcome, entrance free).

The concert will start around 9:00, entrance 5 Euros.

Admission fee includes entrance to the night-club for late-nite dancing (Friday is over-30s night).

Please pass on the word to anyone in Dublin you think might be interested in helping a good cause.

Despite the atrocious weather conditions and exhortations from all and sundry not to venture out of doors, a good crowd turned up for what was an excellent night (though the after-hours dancing did leave a bit to be desired!), and the amount collected and donated far exceeded our expectations.

We are thinking of making this a once-a-month affair (first Friday) in the Portobello next year. If anyone is interested in playing/singing (either in the session or on stage) please PM me.
