Subject: Utah Phillips tribute CD and roadtrip From: GUEST,Duncan Phillips Date: 25 Oct 10 - 07:49 PM Howdy, Over the last year with the help of Kate MacLeod and a dozen or so other musicians from Utah - the state I have been working on a tribute CD for my father Bruce "Utah" Phillips. The CD is set to drop, sorry I mean released, the first of January 2011. My next step is to travel to Maine to visit Kendall Morse. The CD is called Long Gone - the title comes from a song that I wrote for dad as Christmas present several years back. Here are my initial plans. As a start I will set a target date to arrive in Maine of February 19. Going out I'm thinking 2/14 Denver, 2/15 Des Moines, 2/16 Chicago, 2/17 Cleveland, 2/18 Albany and 2/19 Maine. Coming home - Boston, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Chicago, Kansas City, Denver and home (SLC) Of course this is not set in stone. It depends on what opens up and where but it's a starting point. As a side note. I can handle the winter and I can drive forever. I know it sounds crazy to travel to Maine in February but do to my work it's the only time that I can go. There are so many folks that I only know by name and have yet to meet. I think that time has come. My hope is to fetch up with some of the folks that dad knew and always talked about. It seems fitting that after finishing up the CD I the next logical thing to do is pack up the car and head East. It must be genetic and no I won't be coming in a VW micro bus. |
Subject: RE: Utah Phillips tribute CD and roadtrip From: jacqui.c Date: 25 Oct 10 - 07:53 PM We're looking forward to your visit Duncan. We'll try to arrange for you to meet some of Utah's fans around the area. How long can you stay in Maine? |
Subject: RE: Utah Phillips tribute CD and roadtrip From: GUEST,Duncan Phillips Date: 25 Oct 10 - 08:23 PM Jacqui, it depends on what folks line up along the way. By the time I arrive it will have been almost four weeks on the road and I have to back to work around the first of March. It may only be a couple of days. Hopefully longer, we'll see how it all shapes up. |
Subject: RE: Utah Phillips tribute CD and roadtrip From: GUEST,Duncan Date: 25 Oct 10 - 09:21 PM Mostly I just want to meet folks and relax. I don't have to line up any major gigs. Song circles, friends and a house concert or two are enough for me. This adventure is more of a pilgrimage than a concert tour. I mainly need places to stay and friendly faces. Thanks Duncan |
