Subject: RE: Tune Req: Tunes to Charleston to From: GUEST,LDT Date: 27 Oct 10 - 10:16 AM "St Anne's Reel" I'll look that one up.... There's a thought trad tunes used for ballroom dances. Maybe for another thread? I was discussing this with my mum the other day. I think you could rumba to 'courting to slow. |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: Tunes to Charleston to From: Jack Campin Date: 26 Oct 10 - 07:43 AM I don't have time to try transcribing it right now, but this is the most musically interesting free audio version I can find (complete with bizarre near-beatboxing vocalizations): http://www.nfo.net/TUNES/Charleston-Whiteman.ogg It's in OGG format, so quite a few player programs will be able to play it transposed down to G or up to C or D to suit what you've got. (Another Shetland tune you could bend into that rhythm without losing it is St Anne's Reel). |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: Tunes to Charleston to From: Jack Campin Date: 26 Oct 10 - 07:16 AM "Willafjord" or "Da Scallowa Lasses" maybe? (Syncopated Shetland reels). Can't you just transpose the original Charleston tune into a suitable key? (It's in B flat in versions I've heard). |
Subject: Tune Req: Tunes to Charleston to From: GUEST,LDT Date: 26 Oct 10 - 05:47 AM I'm looking for a tune playable on D/G melodeon, C melodeon or (30button) C/G anglo concertina that its possible to dance the charleston to? Particularly interested in tunes in the 'ABC' format so I can get midi and visual. P.s. I have posted this question elsewhere but it suddenly occurred to me mudcat might be a good place to ask. |
