Subject: RE: Tech: 'proxy server is refusing connections' From: Simon G Date: 27 Oct 10 - 12:30 PM It is unlikely to be the ISP if firefox and IE are behaving differently. It might be a virus checker on your computer Any of this of use http://support.mozilla.com/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?comments_parentId=76532&forumId=1 |
Subject: RE: Tech: 'proxy server is refusing connections' From: treewind Date: 27 Oct 10 - 03:18 AM It might be your ISP that is forcing a proxy server on all your web connections. OK as long as it works properly, but I'd prefer an ISP that passed all my traffic transparently. Who is your ISP and is it worth calling their tech support people? Odd that IE and Firefox are behaving differently though. |
Subject: RE: Tech: 'proxy server is refusing connections' From: Ebbie Date: 26 Oct 10 - 11:31 PM Finally I am home - Kevin, I tried that a couple of times and it didn't change a thing. The proxy thing was already OFF. I tried it again today but no go. I also went online looking for it- found several sites where they reported the exact proxy message- but I found no help. I'm not suffering too bad, because I do have IE but I would like to get it resolved. |
Subject: RE: Tech: 'proxy server is refusing connections' From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 26 Oct 10 - 01:42 PM If you aren't meaning to use a proxy server in the first place, you could try opening Control Panel/Network and Internet/Internet Options/Connections/LAN settings and see if Proxy Server box is clicked on. If it is, switch it off. |
Subject: Tech: 'proxy server is refusing connections' From: Ebbie Date: 26 Oct 10 - 01:07 PM For the last few days I have been using Internet Explorer instead of Firefox because this message pops up. I've gone to various websites looking for answers and although they all sounded helpful none of the measures have worked for me. Can any of you knowledgeable lot direct me in the way I should go? I much prefer using FF. Thank you muchly. |
