Subject: RE: Tootler tootling a few tunes From: Tootler Date: 01 Nov 10 - 06:37 PM Here's another one. Da Slockit Light by Tom Anderson. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LEH_I0mshk8 Will Fly's comment above made me think that perhaps it might be an idea to let you put a face to a name. On the whole I am not keen on "Talking Head" type videos preferring to use pictures of views around the North of England or elsewhere to accompany my efforts, though I do have a couple of other talking head videos. |

Subject: RE: Tootler tootling a few tunes From: Tootler Date: 27 Oct 10 - 10:40 AM Jack, I noticed the handgun adverts as related videos to John Roy Lyall and I didn't think they made sense. Neither the title of tune nor the tags seem in any way to suggest them, but there you are. I enjoyed the clip of Julie Christie singing Bushes and Briars. She did a good job. They got the flute right too. A one keyed flute is right for the period and more likely among a village community than a multi keyed flute, though the professionals and the well-to-do would be playing eight keyed flutes at that time and possibly even A "new fangled" Boehm system flute. The actual instrument looks as if it was a genuine period flute. They come up from time to time on ebay, but all to often they are cracked so I don't generally bid on them. Far from the Madding Crowd was the first film I went to see with my wife when we were courting so definite memories for me. I don't remember much about the story, but I remember enjoying the music which they seemed to get pretty much right. Thanks to the others for your kind words. |
Subject: RE: Tootler tootling a few tunes From: Will Fly Date: 27 Oct 10 - 05:10 AM Thanks for these, Tootler - it's always good to see/hear the music of other 'Catters. Sort of puts some flesh on the bones - and nice playing as well. :-) |
Subject: RE: Tootler tootling a few tunes From: Jack Campin Date: 26 Oct 10 - 08:10 PM Why on EARTH do you get handgun adverts as related videos for "John Roy Lyall"? Your "Moorland Air" reminds me of this: Bushes and Briars |
