Hi Anyone in Japan.
I'm planning a tour of Japan for some three weeks in March 2011 and would welcome some gigs / music sessions / song session / contacts with some folkies during my visit. I'm a bit of a shanty singer and play an English concertina - see www.alanwhitbread.co.uk. I'll be travelling with a mate who is a melodeon player for various morris teams. I play / dance for several teams too!
Any advice on where to go / what music or song sessions might be on?
"Wassail!"
Alan

Thanks Hils.
So I shouldn't bother to take my concertina, eh?

A while ago some person or persons I can't remember posted a video of a Japanese quintet ( i think)on melnet www.melodeon.net. It included melodeon, flute and harp and was playing well known English session tunes. Try asking there.

Alan-

Don't give up! Japan is relatively new territory for Mudcatters, with the exception of an occasional folk music scholar.

Cheerily,
Charley Noble

Alan- Run a search on Mudcat's Filter using "Japan" as your search term. There are a few threads with possibly useful information, such as this one.
