Subject: Lyr Add: CHANGES (from University Six, 1927) From: Jim Dixon Date: 05 Nov 10 - 11:57 PM In the recording by the University Six (which you can hear at the Red Hot Jazz Archive—see Alan's link above) only the chorus us sung. I listened, and here's what I think I hear: CHORUS: He plays those beautiful changes in diff'rent keys, Beautiful changes and harmonies. He starts in B, then changes to D. He's fooling around, most any old key What's that? Hear that minor strain. That's it! There's his note again. There's so many babies that he can squeeze, And he's only changing those keys |

Beautiful changes in diff'rent keys, Beautiful changes and harmonies. He starts in C, then changes to D. He's foolin' around, 'most any old key. What's that? Hear that minor strain. [ONE LINE OF SCAT SINGING] There's so many babies that he can squeeze, And he's always changing those keys. First he changes into B, changes into C, Changes into D, changes into E, As easy as the weatherman. Now he gettin' kind o' cold, gettin' kind o' hot, Listen, I forgot: since he was a tot, He's been the talk of Dixieland. |
