Subject: RE: robin hood folk club From: Mo the caller Date: 10 Aug 14 - 10:15 AM Does the pub have it's own parking or would we park in the main car park? We will be on our way to Whitby on Friday (staying at Boggle Hole YHA as we can't get into our flat till Sat) Or is it an easy walk from the hostel? And where are the best fish & chips? Hope this message doesn't make this thread disappear. I tried to post on a different thread but it didn't and I can't find it now. |
Subject: RE: robin hood folk club From: GUEST,Fred McCormick Date: 10 Aug 14 - 10:32 AM "where are the best fish & chips?" In Whitby of course. Where else in the universe could you get fish and chips like the ones they serve in Whitby? |
Subject: RE: robin hood folk club From: Mo the caller Date: 10 Aug 14 - 03:11 PM Yes, but a) that's a long walk from RH Bay b) we've got all week to eat Whitby fish. |
Subject: RE: robin hood folk club From: Dennis the Elder Date: 10 Aug 14 - 03:54 PM You will have to park in the car park at the top of the hill, and walk down. It is a lot harder walking back to the car, although only a few hundreds yard. |
Subject: RE: robin hood folk club From: GUEST,cujimmy Date: 10 Aug 14 - 04:03 PM There is a fish n chip shop at the bottom of the hill |
Subject: RE: robin hood folk club From: Noreen Date: 10 Aug 14 - 04:21 PM There's only one chippy in Robin Hoods Bay, on Albion Road nearly down at the dock. They do excellent fish and chips, but have variable opening hours, so don't leave it too late to get there! Otherwise, the Bay Hotel in the Dock do wonderful food. Yes, park at the top and walk down. |
Subject: RE: robin hood folk club From: Noreen Date: 10 Aug 14 - 04:24 PM Just remembered you're staying at Boggle Hole- it is a lovely walk to the Bay and back, either along the beach (about 30 mins tops) if the tide is well out, of on the cliff path. Either way, you need a good torch and sturdy shoes. :) |
Subject: RE: robin hood folk club From: JHW Date: 10 Aug 14 - 05:09 PM I rather bent my first car driving back to Boggle Hole after the FC. Brian Krengel (RIP) was Warden then and FC MC and organiser and manys the member who would walk back after the club. Late night returns at YHA hostels were frowned on then. Great days though. |
Subject: RE: robin hood folk club From: Dave Sutherland Date: 10 Aug 14 - 05:12 PM Would someone clever kindly change the title of the thread to "Robin Hood's Bay Folk Club" or something similar. The Robin Hood folk club meets on alternate Saturday nights at Long Eaton's Stumble Inn. |
