Subject: Cowboy Train across Canada video up now From: open mike Date: 11 Nov 10 - 09:40 AM I just uploaded my video of Rosalie Sorrels singing a Utah Phillips song on the train as it rumbles across Canada on the Roots on the Rails trip in 2006. see it here on Youtube or here on facebook |
Subject: RE: Cowboy Train across Canada video up now From: open mike Date: 11 Nov 10 - 09:54 AM That year, 2006, the east bound train carried Cowboys and the west bound train had the Cowboy Junkies. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lPyHd1_aXU See www.flyingunderradar.com for more train adventures! Subject: RE: Cowboy Train across Canada video up now From: ChanteyLass Date: 11 Nov 10 - 10:20 PM I enjoyed it, too. I'm a fan of Rosalie and Utah. One of the best concerts I've been to was when they performed together at Stone Soup. Rosalie will be back at Stone Soup this spring, and I look forward to seeing her. |
Subject: RE: Cowboy Train across Canada video up now From: katlaughing Date: 11 Nov 10 - 10:43 PM That's a neat song and I really like the way she sings it. What great fun that must've been! Thanks, Laurel! |

Subject: RE: Cowboy Train across Canada video up now From: Sandy Mc Lean Date: 12 Nov 10 - 11:08 AM Good song and my nit picking is only with the concept of a "Train across Canada". Canada neither starts nor ends anywhere near Toronto so I question the expertise of the geography. "Cowboy Train Part Way Across Canada" would be more truthfull. :-} |
Subject: RE: Cowboy Train across Canada video up now From: Simon G Date: 12 Nov 10 - 12:27 PM Thanks Laurel, I wonderful reminder, it doesn't seem 4 years since we were on that train. As an immigrant Nova Scotian I'm quite prepared to accept Across Canada, after all across doesn't imply completely across. The train went east from the west so that is across to me. Simon |
Subject: RE: Cowboy Train across Canada video up now From: open mike Date: 12 Nov 10 - 04:31 PM ah ha, mr. goodfellow of minty balls fame (is that too personal?) I found that when the cowboys got off in toronto, after crossing SOME of Canada, (or Cownada as i called it) the junkies got on, Cowboy Junkies, that is and went west across the SAME parts of canada so all totalled it would have been more than one length of the country, eh? |
Subject: RE: Cowboy Train across Canada video up now From: gnu Date: 12 Nov 10 - 04:51 PM Indeed, but Sandy's point is valid... after all, the Right Coast is the only reason we have a Left Coast. It's a history lesson we have been trying to teach westerners for a while. And, the scenery Down East is no less magnificent than from Uppity Canada all the way to Lotus Land. (More history... eh.) |

Subject: RE: Cowboy Train across Canada video up now From: open mike Date: 13 Nov 10 - 04:43 AM we had all the fun we could stand...if we had any more hours or days aboard this fantastic rolling festival, we would not have been able to stand it...we had to get off somewhere!! |
Subject: RE: Cowboy Train across Canada video up now From: Sandy Mc Lean Date: 13 Nov 10 - 10:36 AM Now that, open mike is an explaination that I can comprehend! :-} |
