Subject: RE: Chords in Open C tu8ning - CGCGCE From: The Maverick Date: 13 Nov 10 - 02:57 PM I just wanted to learn the chord as a chord name rather than x1330x etc so I could then write the chord name over the lyrics as I learnt the song that way. I learnt up Gloomy Winter that way but gave the chords names of my own. This is really helpful - I am very grateful - thanks - Trevor, East Yorkshire |
Subject: RE: Chords in Open C tu8ning - CGCGCE From: Nick Date: 13 Nov 10 - 01:24 PM x5000x - CCGC = C5 x3500x - BbFGC - Bb6+2 x1330x - AbFBbC - Ab6+2 x02020x - GDGD = G5 x0200x - GDGC = Gsus4 3x303x - EbEbGEb = Eb x3230x - BbDBbC - Bb+2 It's pretty much C Bb Ab G with Eb and Bb but as with most open tunings they offer lots of lovely sounds that don't really matter to me what they are called. The notes in the chords are C D Eb F G Ab Bb C which suggests an aeolian mode I think. The additional notes just add colour and interest and give it that sound Big fan of Dougie Maclean and play quite a bit in open C but the names of the chords have never been too much of a concern :) Not dissimilar to 'Ready for the Storm' apart from it doesn't have the Eb |

Subject: Chords in Open C tu8ning - CGCGCE From: The Maverick Date: 12 Nov 10 - 05:05 PM Can anyone tell me the actual chords in Dougie Macleans 'Mhairi Bhan'? In Open C tuning - CGCGCE I am using x5000x x3500x x1330x x02020x x0200x and the wonderful sounding 3x303x and x3230x I have tried writing out the notes and know the basic trid system but some of these don't seem to fit into it. I would basically like to use the lyric sheet with the proper letter for the chord over the chord change to help learn to sing and play it. I have googled endlessly for chords in open C tuning and though I find some, they're not these. |
