I love the ballad so much I've named my home Tam Lin. But there's also a dance tune, attributed to Davey Arthur of the Fureys. Anyone have the details on when he wrote it, if he wrote it, and whether he recorded it?

Yes, and I did stumble on this video. It's amazing how little info there is on Davey Arthur- even his website
isn't very helpful.

I now know that the tune has also been called Howling Wind and Glasgow Reel.
