Another year has passed
each one goes a little quicker than the last...

But nevermind that 'cause tomorrow is the birthday of two of the sweetest womenz that I know, Rita and the P-Vine...

Not too sure what poor Bill is gonna do fir Rita's but I been informed by the P-Vine that I had better come up with somethin' real special... Guess that rules out McDonalds... Jus' jokin'... Ol' hillbilly don't do McDs nor does the P-Vine...

But I have all night to think on it and after the P-Vine goes to bed get out all my construction paper and colored pens and make her a nice Birthday card... Used to be this place over the mountain in Flint Hill, the "Public House", that she adored but it closed down...

No matter, both Bill and I will do our best so here's wishin' both Rita and the P-Vine a heartfelt...

(Tell yourself that part, too....) I remember among other goodies Eve's cooking, her conversation, her garden, and her wonderful singing of some of my favorite show songs.

Flowers cut outta construction paper and so today I'm takin' her to this little restaurant in Charlottesville... Reckon by the end of the day I will have a few more points... Of course I will spend 'um up fir sayin' or doin' somethin' dumb but, hey???

So far, so good here...

Lovely lunch in Charlottesville, then to our favorite coffee joint where they roast beans from all over the world fir a couple pounds of coffee, then to the P-Vine's favorite little bakery for a brownie, then to the 2nd hand shop where she bought an semi-ugly chair for $35 (I didn't sya word about it being semi-ugly), then to the P-Vine's favorite old timey grocery store where the butchers cut meat the way they did back in the 50s right in front of you, then to Lowes for a bag of Peat Moss and then home... So I arrived home with points in hand having not done or said anything dumb... The chair was a challenge...

I thought the chair was bad enough, VaTam... I mean, on the way home we got stopped at a railroad crossing fir a freight train so I got outta the car, walked to the back, got the chair out and held it up so that the oncoming locomotive could see it and that locomotive jumped tracks and took that train down a dirt road... Sho nuff did... I mean, that is one ugly chair but she wanted it so I guess i'm off the hook fir another year...

In other words: no castle...

But thanks fir offerin'...

Maybe Bill will get it fir Rita...

Nope. Don't want no castle. Bill already spends too much time fixing up our house and it's only from the 1950's.

We had a lovely day and evening. Well, I had a lovely afternoon watching Bill "rake" leaves and then he repaired some plumbing problems so our guests could use the downstairs loo. Then later people came over and gave me wonderful cards and a present and we ate delicious food which we ordered from a carry-out Chinese place so no one had to cook and then we sang songs and made jokes. Perfect.
