Joe Nicholson asked about Saddleworth. They are not in the EDS list because the website has not been updtaed and no-one answered my phone calls and emails. I am happy to include it in the online version if and when someone tells me!
I am also happy to include the smaller scale DIY events, but like to be able to include specific dates, contact details, website, email...

have a look at my list see if there are any small festivals that might compete with your own remit.

Oh, and consult any listing sites that cover your area my RoW listing sites eg and tell them! Some have regular e-mailouts.

Don't forget local radio, news papers, and even TV on a slow news day.

The froots list includes Saddleworth but the web site leaves some doubt. Does anyone know anything it would be a shame if we were to lose it.

dates for festivals in England and Wales in 2011 are now on the EFDSS website www.efdss.org/festivals/2011
and also published in the new issue of English Dance & Song magazine (posted to members and subscribers early this next week).
If you notice any omissions, then please let me know - several festivals haven't updated their websites since earlier this year, and haven't responded to requests from me for the dates, so they are not yet in the list! A few others haven't fixed dates yet!

Richard, you're quite right - Folk Station is 8-10 July! (Senior moment, sorry!)

Correction for Roger's Rant too - 22-24 July.

June - 10-12: Wimborne, 17-19: Alcester.

July/August - Sidmouth 28 July - 5 August, Warwick 29-31 July, Dartmoor 5-7 August, White Horse (Grove) 12-14 August, Whitby 19-26 August, Towersey 26-29 August...

I'm trying to organise a folk day, or weekend, at The Plough in Ley Green, Herts during June, July or August. I'd like to avoid clashing with the essential festivals if I can.

I'd be grateful if people would post any festival or even dates that they are aware of. It'd help me to get a feel for choosing a date.

I know we won't be able to avoid everything.
