I've been working on a one man band book for a year and a half now. It's been going quite well and I have over 700 OMBs being mentioned or written about. I've posted on several relevant threads here and have found quite a few interesting posts and comments relating to the genre. I just thought maybe I'd try starting a thread specific to the genre as it relates to the book and see if I got any new names, interesting stories, info about guys I've been having a hard time finding stuff on etc.

Here are several names I'm short on info on: Kenny Sorensen, Jim Pizza, St Tropez Pete, Uncle Ray, Jim Franklin, Dog Man (UK OMB busks with his singing dog), Caroline Francis, Phil De Glass and Pete McGettigen or Maginigan (spelling?) and Cat Weasel to name but a few.

Does anyone have access to recordings by Joe Barrick, Panhandle Pete, Arthur Griffiths, Albert Bergerault, to name a few?

Any good stories are welcomed about any OMBs.

I desperately need photos of OMBs, especially the vintage ones. I can't just go online and use anything I find, I need permission and photographer credit. I say this because a lot of people say "Just go on google, there are lots there". It's a legal issue. So private photos are best, from people's private collections, whatever.
The main artists I'm concerned with are: Jesse Fuller, Dr Ross, Joe Hill Louis, Drifting Slim, Papa Lightfoot, Juke Boy Bonner, Wilbert Harrison, Duster Bennett, J.D. Short, Blind Joe Hill, Frank Frost, Abner Jay, Hasil Adkins, Arthur Griffiths, Don Partridge, Des Bader, Shaky Jake (British OMB, not American blues guy), Alan Young, mostly earlier guys. However any photos are welcomed and will be credited appropriately.

Okay, I guess I've made my pleas! Please do help, if you can. I hope to finish this in the new year so don't wait. Thanks a lot. I hope to hear from lots of you. Let's face it, we've all seen a one man band or two, right?

My email (for photos) is slimchance@shaw.ca Thanks!
