I'm aware Stringybgark Creek: "A sergeant and three constables rode out from Mansfield Town etc" - has been the subject of threads in the past - however, I am trying to locate the chords.

If you have them could you please pass them on with the chord bracketed; ie - [D] at the point where the chord change occurs, as 'catters with a knowledge of my poast are aware I have an ABI and cannot arrange or decipher chord progressions.

If you could be so kind, could the postee do the chording for just a single verse (or two) and I can extrapolate from there. I don't recall any choruses.

Thankyou

JS Manifold's collection notes 3 tunes for Stringybark Creek. He gives music and chords for 2 of them. He describes them as 'Paddy Fagan', the fiddle tune 'Stringybark Creek' and 'The Wearing of the Green'.

I can do you the chords for the first two - which would you like first?

Phil

Hi NB
Looking for (I think, it's the Bushwackers version) - I know The Wearing of the Green and have the chords - don't know the other - try that one!

OK, here's both versions from JS Manifold - The Penguin Australian Song Book, 1964.

Tune: Paddy Fagan

A [C]Sergeant and three constables rode out from Mansfield [G]town
At the [Dm]end of [G]last Oc[C]tober [G]for to [C]hunt the Kellys [G7]down.
They [C]started for the Wombat Hills and found it quite a [G7]lark
To be [Am]camped upon the [C]borders of a [F]creek called [G7]Stringy[C]bark.

That's more chord changes than I would use.

Tune: from the fiddle tune 'Stringybark Creek'

A [C]Sergeant and three constables rode [Dm]out from Mansfield [G7]town
At [C]th'end of last October for to [Dm]hunt the Kellys [G7]down.
They [C]started for the Wombat Hills and found it quite a [F]lark
[G7]To be [C]camped upon the borders of a [G7]creek called Stringy[C]bark.

Phil
