Subject: Chord Req: Born in Bethlehem From: AnneMC Date: 02 Dec 10 - 01:31 PM Can anyone help with some easy chords for this Christmas carol. Thanks. BORN IN BETHLEHEM Here the bells ring hear the angels sing Glory Hallelujah to the newborn king Peace on earth, goodwill to men Jesus was born in Bethlehem Shepherds on the hill, the angels in the sky The Baby in the manger, a mother's lullaby Wise men from the east, the star that shines so bright Remind us of the joy of this blessed holy night |
Subject: RE: Chord Req: Born in Bethlehem From: ClaireBear Date: 02 Dec 10 - 03:42 PM Is this the Gaither one? I've given it a listen on YouTube, and it's a totally straightforward sequence: 4 counts of tonic, 4 counts of subdominant, 4 counts of dominant, another four counts of tonic. In other words, for each verse: D D D D A A A A G G G G D D D D D D D D A A A A G G G G D D D D or, in another key, G G G G C C C C D D D D G G G G G G G G C C C C D D D D G G G G or even A A A A D D D D E E E E A A A A A A A A D D D D E E E E A A A A Mid you, I don't know the song. I found it on YouTube. The version I listened to for reference (which was this one) changed keys a couple of times. I don't have anything here to help me determine which key is which, but you would get the same intervals, at least, by starting with the first set of chords I gave, then going to the second, then the third. So start in one key, count down 5 letters and start the same sequence there, then go up one whole note and start the same sequence there. Here are the same chords on one more key, just to be thorough: C C C C F F F F G G G G C C C C C C C C F F F F G G G G C C C C Cheers, C |
