Subject: Tech: Can't post to a thread. Why? From: GUEST,Peter Laban Date: 12 Dec 10 - 04:08 AM I have been trying to post a reply to 'the round top wagon' thread. My messages don't 'take'. I made at least twenty attempts at it last night and this morning again my first attempts were unsuccessful. The post contains a bunch of links to photographs I put up. Am I violating an underlying forum software rule or is it just one of these things? |
Subject: RE: Tech: Can't post to a thread. Why? From: GUEST,Peter Laban Date: 12 Dec 10 - 04:13 AM I just tried to insert the post in question into this thread, so one of the moderator elves could move it to the appropriate thread. That didn't work. Is it because I use a cut and paste job (I copied the original whe nit didn't take so I wouldn't loose it). It's a bit frustrating. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Can't post to a thread. Why? From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 12 Dec 10 - 04:22 AM I the last few weeks I have had sometimes 5 or 6 attempts to post into a thread fail - then it takes - can be due to the server being busy. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Can't post to a thread. Why? From: GUEST,Peter Laban Date: 12 Dec 10 - 04:26 AM Yes, I thought so but I can post (to) this thread, but not that specific post and not to that particular thread so far (I have tried a few more times since). I suspect there may be something else going on. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Can't post to a thread. Why? From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 12 Dec 10 - 04:34 AM There are rumours of 'secret' filters for bits of code and urls... :-) Say no more .. nudge nudge , wink wink ... OMG, now Im starting to sound like Gargoyle .... |
Subject: RE: Tech: Can't post to a thread. Why? From: GUEST,Peter Laban Date: 12 Dec 10 - 04:48 AM It does seem like I am running foul of an anti spam measure. Still can't get that post through. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Can't post to a thread. Why? From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 12 Dec 10 - 05:37 AM why not try the message again with only one link to see if that gets thru? |
Subject: RE: Tech: Can't post to a thread. Why? From: GUEST,Peter Laban Date: 12 Dec 10 - 07:04 AM Yes that works. Anything with more than two links gets thrown out. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Can't post to a thread. Why? From: Noreen Date: 12 Dec 10 - 01:14 PM Well that's the answer then! Good pictures. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Can't post to a thread. Why? From: GUEST,DWR Date: 12 Dec 10 - 02:03 PM Having run into rejection myself, I think I know the problem (and the answer). Guests are only allowed two links per post. Anything more than that is rejected. So there's your choice, join or limit yourself to no more than two links in each post. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Can't post to a thread. Why? From: Q (Frank Staplin) Date: 12 Dec 10 - 02:06 PM Before posting I always refresh. If I don't, non-takes increase. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Can't post to a thread. Why? From: Joe Offer Date: 12 Dec 10 - 06:00 PM Hi, Peter- We used to get a lot of Spam messages with multiple links to porn and gambling and.....er, "performance enhancement" sites, and they were a real bother. So, we decided to block Guest messages with more than two links. The block does not apply to registered users, since Spammers rarely register. Sorry for the inconvenience. -Joe Offer, Forum Moderator- |
Subject: RE: Tech: Can't post to a thread. Why? From: GUEST,Peter Laban Date: 12 Dec 10 - 06:02 PM It's fine Joe. Just needed to know what was going on so I could handle it. But as you can see itself out eventually. |
