Subject: RE: Here's one for Bobert - SRV & 12-string From: Will Fly Date: 15 Dec 10 - 05:10 AM It's normally played by SRV on his old Strat - which does indeed give the melody more of a flow. I'd never seen him actually play a 12-string before, so it was interesting to hear this version of Testify. |

Subject: RE: Here's one for Bobert - SRV & 12-string From: evansakes Date: 15 Dec 10 - 10:55 AM Here's another one of his best known songs given the same treatment...I think this one follows on from 'Testify' Pride and Joy What's interesting when you watch him close up is how much a part of his sound is the damping and stopping that he does with his left hand. Also how he adapts so well to the fact that he can't do any string-bends... |
Subject: RE: Here's one for Bobert - SRV & 12-string From: evansakes Date: 15 Dec 10 - 11:02 AM One more thing.....how the hell can he play like that with a ring the size of a two pound coin attached to his left hand ? |
Subject: RE: Here's one for Bobert - SRV & 12-string From: Lonesome EJ Date: 15 Dec 10 - 11:37 AM How about this one, Kendall? Fairly melodic, and using his usual instrumentation. |
Subject: RE: Here's one for Bobert - SRV & 12-string From: Bobert Date: 15 Dec 10 - 05:18 PM A little of Stevie Ray on the 12 string goes a long way... I like his "usual instrumentation" alot more... BTW, fir 12 string blues lovers, Guy Davis is the shits!!! |
Subject: RE: Here's one for Bobert - SRV & 12-string From: kendall Date: 15 Dec 10 - 07:45 PM Gordon Bok is still at the top of my list. The guitar should be caressed, not attacked. |
