Subject: RE: BS: 'Irish Blessing' video - great pics From: michaelr Date: 17 Dec 10 - 05:47 PM Ah, the scenery is lovely, so `tis. It's the saccharine-sweet sentimentality sticks in me craw. |
Subject: RE: BS: 'Irish Blessing' video - great pics From: gnu Date: 17 Dec 10 - 06:03 PM Rough ass... get over it and enjoy the ride. Read the thread title. Come on. Enjoy the pics. I am perhaps more BAH HUMBUG than you but I enjoyed the pics. That's why I posted it. |

Subject: RE: BS: 'Irish Blessing' video - great pics From: Fiolar Date: 18 Dec 10 - 08:10 AM Beautiful pictures. One comment. The one listed as "Dromberg Stone Circle" is really "Drombeg Stone Circle." |
Subject: RE: BS: 'Irish Blessing' video - great pics From: kendall Date: 18 Dec 10 - 12:46 PM I like it. A thing of beauty is a joy forever. Its loveliness increases I t will never pass into nothingness. (Keats) Two of my fondest wishes were to stand on Dingle Beach and sing, Song For Ireland. The other was to stand on Ben Nevis and sing Flower of Scotland. Two of my most bitter disappointments is that it can never happen. Now, I'm really bummed out. |
Subject: RE: BS: 'Irish Blessing' video - great pics From: kendall Date: 18 Dec 10 - 07:06 PM Should this be above the line? |
Subject: RE: BS: 'Irish Blessing' video - great pics From: maeve Date: 18 Dec 10 - 07:23 PM Where ever the thread belongs Kendall... I'd love to hear you singing again, especially In Dingle and on Ben Nevis. Those were noble dreams. You have more dreams in you. Maeve |
Subject: RE: BS: 'Irish Blessing' video - great pics From: kendall Date: 18 Dec 10 - 08:48 PM I can only imagine one thing worse than losing my voice. Having my kids pre decease me. |
Subject: RE: BS: 'Irish Blessing' video - great pics From: maeve Date: 19 Dec 10 - 07:17 AM Yes. Either one would feel terrible. |
Subject: RE: BS: 'Irish Blessing' video - great pics From: Silas Date: 19 Dec 10 - 07:31 AM Kendall, you would be soreley dissapointed with Dingle. What was once an unspoilt pretty Kerry town is now stinking overdeveloped dirty tourist trap. I first went there in the seventies it was a magical place. |
Subject: RE: BS: 'Irish Blessing' video - great pics From: kendall Date: 19 Dec 10 - 07:23 PM I'm sorry to hear that. Old saying "It's a dirty bird that beshits its own nest" and that's what we are doing. I mentioned Dingle's Beach because it is mentioned in the song. Maybe I'll settle for Donnybrook, or the cliffs on the western shore. |
Subject: RE: BS: 'Irish Blessing' video - great pics From: Bonnie Shaljean Date: 20 Dec 10 - 12:23 PM I'm one of those who watched it without the sound turned on, not because I'm cynical but because there are other people here in the room who would have to be Explained To, and it's just easier. Pix are lovely, and some things here do still look like that. The "River Blackwater" shot is not too far from where we live, and the journey up to it is beautiful as well, particularly if you take one of the back roads. You can even boat up to it from Youghal, something we mean to try sometime. I enjoyed the "tour", Gnu - thanks so much! |

Subject: RE: BS: 'Irish Blessing' video - great pics From: GUEST,Silas Date: 20 Dec 10 - 05:11 PM Phil & June Colclough who wrote 'Song for Ireland' who I did have the good fortuneto meet, would have been similarly dissapointed with the way Dingle now is. However, we still have Anescul, Kilorglin (apart from Puck Fair week) Inch and loads of other magical Kerry places! |
Subject: RE: BS: 'Irish Blessing' video - great pics From: kendall Date: 21 Dec 10 - 06:26 AM Ireland has a certain panache' that no other country has. Of course, other countries have their own kind of panache'. I love England but part of me gets homesick for Scotland. I felt that long before I ever went there. Ireland is next on my list. |
Subject: RE: BS: 'Irish Blessing' video - great pics From: Bonnie Shaljean Date: 21 Dec 10 - 07:06 AM Good! I normally don't Quote things at people, but this sentence from the Desiderata sprang up in my mind (yes, I know it only dates from the 20's - about the same age as the Republic): With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams It is still a beautiful world |
