Subject: Runswick Bay Rescue Boat From: Raggytash Date: 22 Dec 10 - 03:07 PM As many of you know Wombat (Christine) and I have been trying to raise funds for the Runswick Bay Rescue Boat for some years, Wombat has now decided (after several glasses of wine) that she will take part in the Boxing Day Dip in Whitby. This entails running into the freezing North Sea at 10.40 on Sunday 26 December, you have to be either mad or dedicated to do this, I will be on hand to take photo's, provide a warm blanket and hot water bottle when she comes out and take her home for a hot bath. If anyone would like to sponser this bit of madness she would be ever so grateful, please PM us if you could donate to the Rescue Boat. Many Thanks Raggytash |

I did the dip a few years back and lost all feeling from the waist down ..... until the defrosting started ..... Aaaaaaargh! As well as the warm blanket and hot water bottle take a flask of hot mulled wine :) it works wonders :D |

Subject: RE: Runswick Bay Rescue Boat-Boxing Day Dip 2010 From: nutty Date: 25 Dec 10 - 06:14 AM There's a distinct likelihood that the sea will be warmer than the land tomorrow. Still - good luck to all who are taking part. |

Hopefully it won't be our farewell performance! Wombat (Christine) |

Subject: RE: Runswick Bay Rescue Boat-Boxing Day Dip 2010 From: Raggytash Date: 26 Dec 10 - 05:06 PM The air temperature was well below 0c, the car was frozen to the road, however Wombat walked down and she Jude and Veronica braved the arctic temperatures and duly did the Boxing Day Dip, to date Wombat has raised over £200, if anyone else would like to add to that she and the Rescue Boat would be most grateful. Commander Crabbe,Stewpot,Wombat and myself also had a session in the Black Horse this afternoon which raised over £100, too knackered to count it at the moment, up all last night watching the cricket, need an hours kip before watching Day 2 of the Ashes. Cheers Raggytash |
