Subject: Lyr. Add: Little Pigs From: Q (Frank Staplin) Date: 23 Dec 10 - 05:28 PM There seem to have been several of these songs where the song is interspersed with sounds. The old sow, etc. Our little pigs make the best of bacon, Bacon, bacon shan diddle daken, Our little pigs, etc. Our old sow's got the hooping cough, Cough, cough, shan diddle boff, Our old sow, etc. Now here's an end to our good song, Song, song, shan diddle dong, And here's an end, etc. Bodleian Collection, Firth c.16(43), c. 1840-1850. |
Subject: Lyr Req: Little Pigs Lay With Their Tails All Cur From: Joe Offer Date: 22 Dec 10 - 05:59 PM My Grandfather, who has passed on, God rest his wonderful, witty soul, use to sing us many songs with all the sound effects to boot. I found a hand-written paper of his that had this song on it which I tried to research and can not find. I'm hoping that with your knowledge you may know of it or are able to help us find it. Now to make matter a little more difficult my Grandpa took the liberty of added his own words to songs so the words below may not be correct: (Italic words are sounds that he would make)
with their tails all curled click click curled whistled curled sing flim flam fiddle flam fare click click air whistle air sing flim flam fiddle flam fare The closest I could find was reference to a U.S. Civil War song with the line, "The little pigs lay with their tails all curled." That's on this website. Can anybody help find this song? -Joe- |
