Subject: BS: Coincidence or foul play? From: Lox Date: 31 Dec 10 - 07:12 AM So Bobby Farrell of Boney M included in his repertoire the song "Rasputin" Then he goes and dies on the same day, and in the the same city that rasputin died ... ... spooky! |
Subject: RE: BS: Coincidence or foul play? From: Rapparee Date: 31 Dec 10 - 10:05 AM Probably a lot of people died in St. Petersburg that day as well. |

Subject: RE: BS: Coincidence or foul play? From: katlaughing Date: 31 Dec 10 - 11:07 AM Well, not knowing anything about the singer, I did go look and am finding the video at the end of http://blogs.wsj.com/speakeasy/2010/12/31/bobby-farrell-boney-m-and-the-legend-of-rasputin/ fun to listen to. Not something I'd go look for, but still a part of pop culture that's fun..no harm in that. |
Subject: RE: BS: Coincidence or foul play? From: gnu Date: 31 Dec 10 - 01:19 PM Oh, THAT guy. I used to listen to a lot of disco... on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights... until a I found a young lady who, ah, um, er, liked my dancing... yeah, that's it. When I found out it was better, and easier, to meet young ladies at the grocery or book store, my disco days were over for good. |
Subject: RE: BS: Coincidence or foul play? From: GUEST,erbert Date: 01 Jan 11 - 01:03 AM "Does anyone really give a fuck anyway?" well, apart from the countless millions of 40 and 50 somethings all around the world today who derived far more genuine youthful pleasure and happiness from the gloriously tacky glittery pop music of Boney M than they ever could from boring old grandad's musty grim grey 'Folk' world of dubious merriment...??? Yeah, the 70's would have been a much more sensible earnest time without the likes of Boney M and their moral deforming and brain warping malignant progaganda for fun!!!??? ra ra rasputin..!!!!!! |
Subject: RE: BS: Coincidence or foul play? From: GUEST,Silas Date: 01 Jan 11 - 02:56 AM Well, as I understand it, he didn't even sing,he just mimed to the recordings and only had a place in the band because his brother was the manager (or something like that) |
Subject: RE: BS: Coincidence or foul play? From: GUEST,Alan Whittle Date: 01 Jan 11 - 07:56 PM I think there was a cosmic conspiracy against Bobby. Sometimes I feel the same unearthly powers have got it in for me. 'Never ignore an omen. Never walk across the M1 with your eyes closed....' Derek Brimstone |
Subject: RE: BS: Coincidence or foul play? From: Gurney Date: 01 Jan 11 - 09:14 PM It would be even more of a coincidence if he died the same way as Rasputin, full of poison and bullets and water. |
Subject: RE: BS: Coincidence or foul play? From: Lox Date: 01 Jan 11 - 09:43 PM Well Silas, Judging by the number of posts on this thread, it appears that you care more than anyone else. |
