Subject: who are the 'Tarrytown Trio' From: Thomas Stern Date: 31 Dec 10 - 11:19 AM in the album "HOW THE WEST WAS WON" (RCA 2-LP, 1960; Bear Family CD 2007) has a couple of tracks credited as "THE TARRYTOWN TRIO". Anyone know who they are? Thanks, Thomas. |
Subject: RE: who are the 'Tarrytown Trio' From: Cool Beans Date: 31 Dec 10 - 11:49 AM David Bromberg is from Tarrytown (NY). He would have been a teenagaer in 1960 but maybe he was pickin' well even then. |
Subject: RE: who are the 'Tarrytown Trio' From: WFDU - Ron Olesko Date: 31 Dec 10 - 12:17 PM They were a local trio from Santa Barbara, California and just used the name Tarrytown. They later became the Floyd County Boys. I do not have info on the names of the performers. |
Subject: RE: who are the 'Tarrytown Trio' From: Thomas Stern Date: 10 Jul 15 - 11:31 PM Anyone know how to contact the Floyd County Boys ??? They have a website, with a contact section, but it does NOT work, nor does send e-mail to the address listed on the site. Thanks, Thomas. |
Subject: RE: who are the 'Tarrytown Trio' From: GUEST,Phil Date: 11 Jul 15 - 04:40 AM It's another one of those East-West Coast things: East c.1962: David Bromberg, Nancy Sellers and David Manoff. Not sure how far they went. No releases that I'm aware of. Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Add: Song of My Hands From: Cool Beans Date: 17 Dec 08 - 05:56 PM" "Like guest Cindy, I attended Mohegan Colony Day Camp and learned songs from Tom Manoff, but never heard "Song of My Hands." Of course, I was there only one summer. Tom Manoff, with whom I had a bit of correspondence a few years ago, grew up in Tarrytown NY and claims to have taught David Bromberg his first chord...." West: c.1964: Todd Grant (guitar-vocals) and Phil Pritchard (bass-vocals) were a duo. No band name that I can recall. c.1965: Chuck Flannery (banjo-vocals) joined. I'm pretty sure this was the "Trio" (?) Doug Sherwood (fiddle) made the "The Floyd County Boys" quartet.
