Dreadful news about Keith, he will be sorely missed at the Folk Clubs. We will always remember his 'Lovely to see you' when we spoke to him on entering. The Prospect will never be quite the same, his renderings of North East songs were legendary. Sadly we will miss the funeral as we are in Malta.

Thanks Matthew. A touching tribute, although I should point out that he was only a regular at Frodsham Conservative club because that's where Frodsham folk club is currently located. His politics were well to the left of the Conservative party.

It doesn't seem possible to link directly to the specific page but putting 'blind pensioner Frodsham' into their search facility will direct you to the page

Can somebody transfer these posts about Keith's death to an OBIT thread? I think this may be being missed by a lot of people.

So sorry to hear this tragic news.

Echoing what others have said above, Keith was a super bloke, a fine singer & virtuoso of the gob iron.

He was a 'one off' original & will be missed.

Dave. Keith made everyone welcome at Frodsham and everywhere else he went. He was one of the kindest, most solid and dependable characters I ever knew.

I suppose it's some small consolation to know the dog wasn't hurt, and it certainly would have been to Keith. Over the twenty years or so that I knew him, he had several dogs and loved them all. In particular I remember the wrench when Hinny became too old and had to be retired.

Can someone please make sure they post the funeral details on Mudcat?

I can only say I'm deeply mortified.

I believe the dog's ok, but that Keith hadn't had it long. Because of the circumstances, there's no date for the funeral yet.

Great singer and character who always made us welcome when we visited Frodsham.

This is a real shock. I have known Keith almost as long as I've been around the folk clubs - since about 1971, I think. Great bloke with a great sense of humour; I'll never forget his appearance on the Frodsham Folk Club's float in th Frodsham Carnival in the mid seventies. The theme was 'Henry V111', and Keith was wielding the executioner's axe, trying to behead the Queen, with people shouting "left a bit...right a bit". He used to do a great rendition of 'Wor Nannie's a Mayzor'. He's going to be sorely missed at the club. My condolences to all his relatives and friends.
John Kelly.

I hear that Keith Allsop has just died - run down by a car when out walking with his guide dog.(I don't know what happened to the dog?)

Keith was a nice man, who always had good songs well sung. Once the deep voice was heard, which said that keith hadarrived, the place was always much warmer. He was steady, friendly and always very welcome.

I will miss him - and carry his memory.
