There are not many songs about cricket or using cricketing terms that we Brits can sing at the end of this test series and this is one that I fancy having a go at. By careful listening I have about 80% of the lyric but cannot hear the rest and cannot find it on any lyric site - any ideas?

Roger

Sir Roger

I was at the Sydney Test on the 4th day and found myself in the middle of the Barmy Army in the Victor Trumper Stand !

Now they have plenty of cricket songs to well known tune such as:

The Bladen Races
The Battle Hymn of the Republic
God Save the Queen
The Sloop John B

et al... et al
I recommend that you contact them for cricket songs

By the way...congratulations. The wins by England were thoroughly deserved and were played in good spirit before enormous crowds

I have listened with interest (since my first visit to the SCG in 1951 ) to the gleeful prediction in the press of the death of Test cricket   HA HA   !

Best wishes

AD

You can hear Tony Tuff singing STICKY WICKET at YouTube.

It's a reggae song, and Tuff's Jamaican accent makes it very difficult for me to understand. Plus I suspect it contains some cricket terms that I wouldn't understand even if the diction was clear.

In any case, he seems to be using cricket as a metaphor.

I couldn't find any lyrics online.

For most of those reasons I posted this request for the lyrics, although I do understand the cricketing terms

Roger
