Hi Ian

As Dave says RYB is alive and well and living in Bradford - plans are well advanced for the next festival on the weekend of 25 - 27 Nov this year and it would be great to see you there. Please join up as a member to help us keep in touch.

Thanks Dave.

I must have droppef off the mailing list. Have to say though that I've not heard it mentioned in any folk circles for 10 or so years. I'll check your web page again (last time was probably 8 years ago.....)

Ian

Many will remember these political song weekends in the 1990s. I assume they came to an end when the UK Tory government gave way to the Blair era in 1997 (along with lots of foolish optimism etc.).

With austerity, cuts, mass redundancies once again the order of the day, I would imagine there will be a mushrooming of political songwriting and a new generation of folk genre performers.

Time to bring back Raise Your Banners? - and similar events elsewhere? - after all we're all in the suffering together (except the Bankers....)

Ian Fyvie

(I'm still singing the old songs... have to write some new ones....!)
