my only personal contact with musicground was nearly 20 years ago
while trying to track down some new old stock guitar parts
which they'd apparently bought up the entire supply of factory leftovers..
seem to remember they were a bit too pricey.

Since then just been keeping track of their ridiculously over-inflated ebay shop prices..

..a constant source of frustration & amusement amongst Hayman/Shergold players online community.

Then there were the rumours of more nefarious activities..

Another forum hinted that googling "Musicground counterfeits" and "Musicground fakes"
would provide many hours of 'juicy' reading material..

.. yes, confirmed, definitely a very entertaining and enlightening weekends reading of various 'case histories'...

but not so much fun for the 'victims' trying to get their money back.

There were rumours about this guy being 'dodgy' years ago when he opened his shop in Doncaster. My brother (who lives in edinburgh) wanted to buy a Lowden years ago. When he visited Music Ground he managed to get a good 'deal' from Rick who agrred to include frighting it up to Edinburgh. Turns out he (Rick) wanted a Lowden dealership which he duly got on the back of selling one to 'our kid' but for years after he moaned and whinged to everyone (but me) about 'our kid' getting the guitar cheap.

Sounds, from the lack of response to this thread that very few people know or have heard of Mr Harrison Snr. I remember buying a guitar from him back in his Doncaster days - in the mid 90s. Not a bad price, I thought, but what a load of bullshit I had to listen to whilst he was trying to persuade me to buy it!

Yeah. There's another banjo expert in the UK whose "qualifications" include being convicted of VAT carousel fraud who has wrecked a number of fine guitars on the pretext of restoration.

Just noticed this at another guitarists forum..

"A well known Yorkshire father and son business partnership dealing in rare and old musical instruments
and equipment
have been accused of handling stolen guitars worth £170,000.
"

..and further 'in depth' background rumours and opinions...

I'll refrain from comment...but...
