Subject: RE: BBC Scotland archive query From: Jim Carroll Date: 09 Jan 11 - 06:19 AM "a Scottish BBC radio show in 1964 called 'for your entertainment'..." Your father's name and the title of the song he sang would be helpful. Can't speak for television, but most of the 'folk' material included in radio programmes were indexed and annotated and included in the BBC's huge index, a complete copy of which is held at The Vaughan Williams Memorial Library at Cecil Sharp House in London. I would be surprised if The School of Scottish Studies in Edinburgh did not also have a copy of the catalogue, and maybe even the recordings. Jim Carroll |

Subject: BBC Scotland archive query From: GUEST,rossey Date: 08 Jan 11 - 08:11 PM Hi noted some discussion about BBC archive material held in sound archives. For family reasons, I am looking for a start on how to find out if anything exists in archives from 1. a Scottish BBC radio show in 1964 called 'for your entertainment' where my father was featured - and a BBC Scotland TV Programme shown at hogmanay of 1975 'a dram for all seasons'. This contains the only existing film clip of my late father singing (which might only be momentary - I don't know). I have transmission dates for both shows, but haven't got a clue where to begin. The BBC's own centrally based archive website is not very welcoming of individual queries of this nature, and a bit discouraging. Any help from anybody would be most welcome. |
