Subject: Whitby accommodation 2011 From: Jack Campin Date: 10 Jan 11 - 12:06 PM Accommodation for Whitby Folk Week seems to have gone from "we can't take bookings yet" to "we're all full up" almost instantly. Anyone got any ideas? B&B or a flat, 2 or 4 people, walking distance of the town centre. Not interested in camping. |

Subject: RE: Whitby accommodation 2011 From: Jack Campin Date: 10 Jan 11 - 06:23 PM Thanks, we were in an Ingrid Flute property last year and it was fine. There seems to be nothing suitable on their site that isn't already booked, but I'm emailing them to see what they've got. |
Subject: RE: Whitby accommodation 2011 From: Susan of DT Date: 10 Jan 11 - 07:54 PM I usually book with Ingrid Flute in September to October. |
Subject: RE: Whitby accommodation 2011 From: Mrs.Duck Date: 11 Jan 11 - 05:08 AM Astins also have a number of properties. It is a fact that most regulars to the festival book well in advance. We usually book for the following year when we pay our final balance in June! |
Subject: RE: Whitby accommodation 2011 From: GUEST,MC Fat (at work) Date: 11 Jan 11 - 05:38 AM Janet & Stuart (Brid Widder and Beardy) have a cottage in Whitby last year Janet did charged per bed and room. Presume she will do the same this year.I stop usually Friday- Tuesday and then I'm off to Shrewsbury. Then there's always Veronicas (Kika's Place) she does it on a room only basis |
Subject: RE: Whitby accommodation 2011 From: Jack Campin Date: 12 Jan 11 - 06:33 AM OK, we went with Ingrid Flute - they had a cancellation. So, we've booked a 4-person cottage next to the Magpie (double room for us, twin for somebody else, dunno who yet). Problem solved; thanks everybody. (It occurred to me that the real problem with Whitby is that it doesn't have a residential college; most towns of that size do, and they add a lot of elasticity when trying to fit people in for major events during the college holiday period). |

Subject: RE: Whitby accommodation 2011 From: Jack Campin Date: 18 Dec 11 - 08:41 PM Anybody want to share next year? We have booked this for Folk Week 2012: Chapter House, beside Brunswick Church Pretty central. Not very disabled-friendly even by Whitby standards. As they say, strictly non-smoking. They permit a dog but I'm not very fond of them unless they behave like cats. Looking for two other people. |
