Subject: Seeking a carol to bell chimes From: Nigel Parsons Date: 11 Jan 11 - 07:57 PM Okay, this is a wild query. I remember from my infancy (School 50 years ago) the following. I am not certain of the words, nor of the notes (okay, that doesn't leave much!) Words (I think) Hark, the Christmas bells are ringing Gladest message they are bringing All upon this happy day. Christians haste your vows to pay. Christ is bo-orn, On this mo-orn, Ring, Bells, Ring. This was accompanied on piano, but would be even better with handbells. I admit I am poor at identifying notes, but it is something like: C c b a g f e d C c b a g f e d C d e d e f g e f g f g a b c g f d c g f d c c c Where the upper case 'C' is the bottomm of the octave and all other notes go up from there. The last line of three 'c's is played as chords. can anyone help (or correct me) please. Cheers Nigel |
Subject: RE: Seeking a carol to bell chimes From: greg stephens Date: 12 Jan 11 - 04:34 AM Well I've had a flick through those of my books that have this sort of thing, but I've drawn a blank, sorry. But I can do you"Christmas Bells","Hark to the Merry Bells", "Ring Out the Bells for Christmas" and "Ring Out Merry Bells". Obviously a subject which has stimulated the creative flow of the Victorian carol maker. |
