Subject: RE: BS: How old are we all? From: Uncle_DaveO Date: 03 Jun 11 - 05:01 PM The other day I reported (as I do every month) to the COAG Clinic, to check blood coagulation time, because I take Warfarin. I had a new (to me) nurse to do the minimal interview and finger-stick for a drop of blood and run it on the little computerized analyzer. As I left the examination room, she said, "There's NO WAY you're eighty!" Without looking back toward her, I said, "You'll have to talk to my mother about that, Nicole!" Well, it seemed witty at the time. I guess you had to be there. Dave Oesterreich |
Subject: RE: BS: How old are we all? From: kendall Date: 03 Jun 11 - 12:28 PM Example of Maine humor: A rather large woman was trying to board a local bus but the doors were designed for normal people, so she was kinda stuck. The driver smirked at her and she got huffy. She said to him "If you were half a man, you would help me." He said, "If you were half a woman, you wouldn't need help." |

Subject: RE: BS: How old are we all? From: kendall Date: 03 Jun 11 - 06:40 AM I don't feel like a 70 year old, I feel like 7 ten year olds. Truth to tell, I've reached the age when my back goes out more often than I do.People no longer say, "You are good looking" they say "You are looking good." It's true that I'm looking good, just had my glasses changed. Went to my 50th high school reunion, met my old girl friend, she was so old she didn't recognize me. |
Subject: RE: BS: How old are we all? From: GUEST,Shimrod Date: 03 Jun 11 - 04:35 AM I'm 63 in July. Yesterday I walked about 10 miles and am feeling no ill effects today at all. The day before my GP told me that I am a bit unfit but healthy. He also told me that he is fit but not particularly healthy. We occasionally meet when I am walking and he is cycling. He says that I 'amble' too much and that if I want to be fitter I need to get out of breath more. While I'm ambling along I might think about that! Apart from all of that life has never been as sweet and as exciting than it is now ... I never imagined that 63 would be like this! |

From: GUEST,robhunter Date: 02 Jun 11 - 03:44 PM Welll... in my bio at www.onetinleg.com (which brought me to the previous thread) I'm using the line "with the onset of late middle age..." Been dining out on that one for the last seventeen years. I was twenty in 1960 and played backup guitar with Pete Stampfel and Jim Kweskin at the Gaslight Cafe on MacDougal Street. The day job was as Murray the K's board operator at WINS before the all-news format. Memories, anyone? Gee, that makes me 72. |

Subject: RE: BS: How old are we all? From: GUEST,Alan Whittle Date: 17 Jan 11 - 05:37 AM 62 this week. Still can't play the guitar as good as I'd like. I've gone off reading, which is okay - it fits in with my eyes not being as good as they should. Worryingly, I've gone off the idea of an afterlife. I don't think even if i lived into eternity the guitar playing would get right. I should have attempted something easier in life. More in line with my capablities. Perhaps I would have been a success working in a burger bar - I can make sausage sandwiches. |

Subject: RE: BS: How old are we all? From: Ebbie Date: 16 Jan 11 - 08:45 PM 75 my last birthday. It occurred to me when I adopted my latest dog that this could be the last one I ever have. He is only 2 years old and should live to be round about 15. Logically speaking, I should live to be 84 or so. My daughter just had her 49th birthday. Now,that is startling. Previous to this one, her 29th birthday was of the most significance to me because I remember so clearly when I turned 29. But 49? That is recent history! Someone once said that no matter how old you live to be, the first 20 years will always be the longer half. |
