Subject: Lyr Add: THE FAMILY TREE MUSTA FELL ON ME (Raney)
From: Gene
Date: 19 Jan 11 - 12:08 PM

Not too long ago there was a post referring to an old Wayne Raney song probbly from the late 40's or 50's.

At the time I could not recall the title to the song and only recalled the REFRAIN. A net pal came to the rescue.

--------------------------

As Recorded by Wayne Raney

VERSE 1:

Well I look at my brother and I look at my sis
It keeps me a-wonderin' why I look like this
I'm so doggone ugly you see
The family the family tree musta fell on me.

BRIDGE:

My Paw was named John, my Maw was named Ruby
Both as 'purty' as they could be
But they got together and they named me "UGLIE"
'cause ugly wasn't the word that fitted me.

REFRAIN:

So they called me "UGLIE" and that's my name
They'll put my face in the Hall of Fame
And that's right where it oughta be
'cause the family tree musta fell on me.

VERSE 2:

Well I went to the Circus just to see the clown
I slipped right in and I sat right down
The people started cheerin' and a holler'n' "whoo-pee!"
They all musta thought that the clown was me.

BRIDGE:

The doctor told Maw my face should be lifted
The very first day of my birth
But Paw told Maw that I would be gifted
The ugliest man on earth.

REFRAIN:

So they called me "UGLIE" and that's my name
They'll put my face in the hall of fame
But that's right where it oughta be
The family tree done and fell on me.

Note. UGLIE = Youg-lie.
