Unfortunately, it's on at the same time as Ryedale Folk Weekend just down the road at Hutton-le-Hole, which we go to every year.

Got our tickets in today... went last year and we think its a great idea for a weekend... nice and easy during the day (sessions and enjoy Whitby) Great food at the rugby club and then a top line concert in the evening... Well organised and very reasonable on price.

Last year we camped at the Rugby Club, the facilities were primitive to say the least, which is the kindest thing I could say.

How very English Billy. Most countries on this planet regard 70 miles as a short hop! In Australia its too close for comfort in many cases!

Primitive facilities? I couldn't care less as long as there's a tap, a netty and a beer or two. I don't go away to wallow in the bathtub for hours on end. Any way, I believe the " facilities" have been upgraded,so that puts paid to the late night sing and swim.

Miles away indeed. Never heard such exaggerated nonsense. A mere stroll, unless you are practically bedridden with a terminal illness, or a total shiftless lazy ....person.

There is (or was ) a little hoppa bus running a regular route down Love Lane past the Rugby Club, along the West Cliff then back down to town. I'll try to find the details and post them :) Can't have anyone pegging out in the streets.

The walk doesn't take long, but the taxis which are always outside the station are even quicker and last year cost less than a £1 each, but only if you bring your friends back with you.

I'm playing again, either the boys can't get enough of my lovely singing or they just give me the booking to shut me up!

The facilities are what they are, I recall one festival I went to where even finding a toilet was something of a challenge!
The water in the showers was hot, there was somewhere to hang my towel and I have my trusty flip flops to save me standing on the dirty part of the floor! That'll do me!

As someone else has said regarding the taxi situation, if you get a group of four, a one way journey is less than a quid, you're hardly going to go bankrupt!

I really enjoyed last year, it was my fella's first trip to Whitby and my tent held up very well in the wind!
But I'd like to apologise to anyone who was offended by my excess noise making during Waterson-Carthy, I'd spent the day getting drunk in town with the two Julies, no one gets out of that situation unscathed!

muppitz

Lowp played some cracking music & 'Spot' aka Ann did tunes that made us feel we were back in Paris
