Looked at amazon.co.uk and found it (1993 pressing, discontinued) for 36 pounds. Another (1995 pressing, discontinued) for 99 pounds but used for 19 pounds up. A oouple of the dealers will ship to N. Am.
Also, money can be saved by buying the short sets.

Not interested myself, but perhaps some mudcats are.

Q - That sounds like a whole lot of $. Here in UK you can get a 15 disc collection for £36.28 plus £7.49 if you want to add the rather later 2 episodes as well. Going mad and spending £49.99 will get you a Blu-Ray version.

I no longer follow exchange rates, but any of those options sound like a lot less than US$236.99, I thought your prices were supposed to undercut ours but (in this case at least) it seems not so. Of course you would need a DVD player capable of taking UK discs, and would have to forego the wooden box.

Thread-drift again, but what of it. Yes, Flashman would make some interesting viewing, but not if (as I suspect) it were to be emasculated to satisfy the suits and the PC brigade.

I'm just awaiting the arrival from Amazon of the 11th book in the Kydd series, by Julian Stockwin.

Well researched and beautifully written, they follow the career of a pressed man as he 'goes aft thru the hawse' to become an officer and ultimately (so far) a commander prior to and during the Napoleonic Wars. The supporting characters who appear in the book are real people from history such as the American Robert Fulton who tried unsuccessfully to sell the idea of submarines and torpedoes first to Buonaparte and then to Pitt. I can recommend the whole series.

I'm reading the first in a series of books about Josephine. It ends with her marrying Napoleon. She lead a fairly interesting life before she even met the little Corsican. Among other things she and her fist husband separated. They were reunited during the revolution. He was an officer in the army of the French Republic, eventually guillotined. She was imprisoned but released. Quite a fascinating lady.

In this one, he dies in action and Adam inherits the old sword. The implication is that there will be more novels featuring Adam Bolitho.

I also enjoy the Sharps series. Based upon what has appeared on Public Television, there has to be a lot more than is available in printed form in the US.

Just finished the latest Dewey Lambdin, Alan Lewrie, book "King, Ship and Sword." Number 16 is a worthy addition to the series. If possible, read them in sequence.

It takes place around the treaty of Amiens and its immediate aftermath. Includes a reconciliation with his wife as well as a trip to Paris as part of a "second" honeymoon.

To tell more would be to give away the story, which is, as always, worthy reading.
