Bob - Steve Thomason is also a songwriter, and has had three of his songs recorded by Bill Whaley and Dave Fletcher on their "Acorn to Oak" CD. Many of his friends have been trying to persuade him for years to record his own CD....

Thanks for the kind words Steve - and right back at you! Kitty, it seems like you know Steve already, but for those who don't, Steve T
(Thomasson?) plays a mean guitar, has one of the most beautiful singing voices I have heard in a long time, and impeccable taste in songs. We had a good chat about clubs in Leicester/Notts as he recently moved South from there. I will be sure to look out for more meets when i am down again - it makes the prospect of a week with my Mother so much more bearable!

Bob - I'm expecting the day job to leave me in a few months, which I hope will allow me to get to hear more of the folk fraternity in all sorts of places...

And I also hope to hear Steve T when I'm in Devon the weekend after next...

It was good to hear you too Bob. Some great songs from you but especially nice to hear you playing O'Carolan tunes on the autoharp. I was only used to hearing one used for background strumming previously so it was a real treat to hear how versatile it is.

Hope you can get down again in happier circumstances – there are other clubs and sessions close by that you'd enjoy as well.

Just a quick thanks to the good folk folk of Tiverton Folk Club and Topsham Folk Club, Devon, who welcomed me to their collective bosoms over the past week. Not literally of course. I was away from my home town of Nottingham, at a family funeral, so was not too happy generally, and was delighted to be able to find two clubs I could go to while I was down there. Both were very pleasant evenings, with some great singers and musicians. I particularly remember the hurdy-gurdy at Tiverton, and some really fabulous singers at Topsham - you know who you are!

Just restores something of my faith in humanity that there are a lot of people in the world for whom singing and playing for others, and listening and sharing with others, is still high on their list of priorities.
