Thanks very much for the ideas and suggestions - apparently I am going to the Womadelaide (?) already - -the friends with whom I am staying. They have booked up a number of other events and activities for while I am there. However if there is are any opportunities to get to a session, club or concert that would be great. I am a singer (Scottish)- mainly traditional; also an intermediate fiddler (not taking it with me tho!) but I enjoy a wide range of types of folk music.
Will certainly wave to Allan C's daughter and family if I see them - -?!

A couple of years ago, there were regular instrumental [ mainly ] sessions in "Dan O'Connell's" on a Tuesday night [ check the day, it had changed ]. Very friendly bunch of people.
There was a more serious Irish session in "The Governor Hindmarch" 0n a Friday night.
The Adelaide Irish Society used to hold classes followed by a session in the Irish Centre on Monday nights. They have a website somewhere.
I was made very welcome at all of these places, and they were extremely helpful in suggesting other similar events, sessions, folk clubs etc.

You might do well to check out
the Frances Folk Gathering - 25-27 Feb.. Frances lies just a bit south and east of Adelaide. There's an Allan's Music & Billy Hyde store in Adelaide where you might learn of some jams, sessions, or concerts.

Give a wave at my daughter and her family for me while there. Thanks.
