Images, traditional songs and readings about life on the land in Sussex at the time the Lewes Phoenix Foundry opened in 1832 and the changes it brought to working people's lives. The show was originally put together for the Lewes Phoenix Oral History Project.

The images are supplied by Allan and Rene Marriott's Magic Lantern, the Victorian ancestor of the slide projector. The show will include many rare slides of old Lewes from the Archaeological Society's private collection, including a feature on a visit by Sanger's Circus in the early 1900s.

The lantern will also show an entertaining group of novelty slides with special effects, many of them humorous.

Music from Spare Parts Concertina Band.

To add to the general effect, the performers will be in costume.

In aid of the Sussex Archaeological Society.
