Subject: RE: Contentibus and Loose Change Theory From: Les in Chorlton Date: 09 Feb 11 - 02:43 AM Trust you all have a great night - a minor point where in the world is Foots Cray? Best wishes L in C# |
Subject: RE: Contentibus and Loose Change Theory From: GUEST,Ted Date: 09 Feb 11 - 03:56 AM Only one 'Foots Cray' on Streetmap - the pub's marked on the map too. |
Subject: RE: Contentibus and Loose Change Theory From: Les in Chorlton Date: 09 Feb 11 - 05:32 AM I don't wish to be difficult Mr/Ms Ted but people on here get very upset with themselves over nothing whatsoever. If you want people to come to come to your event why not say more simply wher it is? L in C# Songs & Tunes in The Beech Beech Road Chorlton Manchester M21 9EG |
Subject: RE: Contentibus and Loose Change Theory From: Bernard Date: 09 Feb 11 - 05:57 AM Sidcup in Kent... most of the districts are one Cray or another! St. Mary's Cray, St. Paul's Cray, North Cray... the list goes on. Anyone know the explanation for this unique (is it?) naming? |
Subject: RE: Contentibus and Loose Change Theory From: Bernard Date: 09 Feb 11 - 05:59 AM (Clue... the River Cray) |
Subject: RE: Contentibus and Loose Change Theory From: MGM·Lion Date: 09 Feb 11 - 06:03 AM Am I the only one disappointed to have clicked on to this thread expecting from its name to find something of intense philosophical interest? ~Michael~ |
Subject: RE: Contentibus and Loose Change Theory From: Les in Chorlton Date: 09 Feb 11 - 06:10 AM Looks like you may be that person M! Best wishes L in C# |
Subject: RE: Contentibus and Loose Change Theory From: GUEST,Ted Date: 09 Feb 11 - 06:15 AM Not my event Les, so not really for me to try & attract people. I'd have thought that referring people to a map might have been helpful. |
Subject: RE: Contentibus and Loose Change Theory From: Waddon Pete Date: 09 Feb 11 - 06:22 AM No Michael, You were not the only one! I was intrigued too! Sigh, Best wishes, Peter (But it'll be a good do!) |
Subject: RE: Contentibus and Loose Change Theory From: Will Fly Date: 09 Feb 11 - 06:45 AM Loose Change Theory is concerned with the probability that: whenever you put the small change from your pocket to one side - as many of us do - your next purchase will come to an odd amount which precisely requires that loose change. You then don't have that change so you pay with large denomination currency - which gives you more loose change... to put on one side and then... ...I'll get me coat. |
Subject: RE: Contentibus and Loose Change Theory From: Waddon Pete Date: 11 Feb 11 - 05:26 AM Nay, Will lad....don't get your coat! I think you've hit on something there. They ought to make a research grant available for you! (In 2p, 10p and 1p coins of course!) Best wishes, Peter |

Subject: RE: Contentibus and Loose Change Theory From: Les in Chorlton Date: 11 Feb 11 - 01:11 PM Exlnt Ms Friday, sorry if I seemed a bit grumpy above. People often post on here anouncing a sing around or a festival in Chorlton cum Hardy or some such forgotten corner of England, of which little is known - probably forgetting that this is a trans-global discussion forum. Best if luck L in C# |
