I think this song was requested in an old thread with a badly composed title. It may not be the right song, but it looks like a good song anyway, so rather than refresh the old thread, I thought I'd start a new one for it.

Lyrics copied from CelticBrogue.net:

HOW'S SHE CUTTIN'?
Written by Nicholas McCarthy
From Dermot O'Leary and The Bards

1. Did you ever hear people say, "Hello there. Have a nice day"?
What they really mean is, "How's she cuttin'?"
And your man with the bowler says, "How do you do, old chap?"
What he really means is, "How's she cuttin'?

CHORUS: "How's she cuttin', Pat? Will you tell me that?
Did you save the hay? Did the pigs get fat?
Were you up all night? Are you feelin' cat?
How's it goin' there? How's she cuttin'?"

2. Most people seem to think that a nod's as good as a wink,
But there's simply no mistakin' "How's she cuttin'?"
And there's no use you bein' shy, when you're lookin' your one in the eye,
Make your meanin' clear, boy: "How's she cuttin'? CHORUS

3. Some people seem to greet you, "Well, hello. Pleased to meet you."
What they really mean is, "How's she cuttin'."
I've seen cead mile failte signs a hundred thousand times,
But the sign I prefer is mine: "How's she cuttin'? CHORUS

[Also sung by Mac & O' (Nicholas McCarthy & Sam O'Doherty) on "To My Children I'm Irish" (1993) and by Diarmuid O'Leary on "Step it Out" (1995).]
