Wesley, funny, I was just listening to a Fred Neil CD this morning. It's a 2 CD package, about a year old, and readily available. I'm sure you can go through the Mudcat connection to CD Now or wherever. Two almbums on one and live performance on the other. I love his stuff, too.

How about Mitch Greenhill and Rolf Kahn? Two of the Cambridge crowd you don't hear much about.

I think who I miss the most and wonder about is Fred Neil. I wish he was still performing. And if he is I want to know. And does Hamilton Camp still perform at all??

I still don't know what happened to Don Crawford, but this site has 3 LP's by him, $30 apiece. And a concert schedule for Brewer and Shipley HERE They are back together again.

Re: Hedy West

This thread from a few months ago contains info on how to get her newly remastered-to-CD albums.

I think, as someone says in that thread, that she has actually posted to the Mudcat sometime, but a search doesn't turn it up.

Wow, yes, Don Crawford! He came to my college on the infamous Coffee House Circuit, and I went to every show. we booked him for the folk festival the next year. I have two albums by him, but I haven't heard a thing about him in years.

What about a fine picker and free spirit named Doc Stanley. He hung out at the Erectheon Coffeehouse with Roger Luzwick and Mike Slossen in the early 60s. (How about them too?)

Frankie Armstrong has been teaching voice and singing in acting schools around Australia recently. Don't know if she's here permanently, but she's here a lot.

Mason Williams? (I know he is still performing, but not where)
James R. (Jim) Hale? (inlay artist extrordinaire, worked for Mossman in the early days)
Don Crawford (one of the few Black folk artists I have ever run across, and he was a contestant on Jeopardy once, too........)

Pete Stanley ? Surely one of the best 5-string Banjo players on this side of the "herring pond"? I last heard him about 12 years or so ago, in a pub in highgate, North London. He had a very good dobro player with him. Pete was often heard on the old folk programmes on the "Light" longwave BBC as I remember. What ever etc., ?

I heard Frankie Armstong on a BBC radio show about five weeks ago. She was presiding over some form of get back to your voice therapy session, I think in London, so I assume she's still in the UK. I expect others know more :)

Yes, I have missed him too. His last post was May 14th. Didn't say anything about a sabbatical. Come Back, Frank!

Frankie Armstrong has been performing at Australian Folk Festivals up until a couple of years ago. Don't know if she lives here full time now or not.

Well, he's not quite folk, but a guy named Roger Steffens used to perform several times a year at St. Francis Seminary in Milwaukee, where I went to school in the 1960's. He did dramatic presentations of poetry, with occasional scenes from Shakespeare. there was an article on him in Time Magazine, and I think he was on Johnny Carson one night (but we weren't allowed to watch TV that late). I haven't heard of him since I left Milwaukee in 1970. He sure put on a good performance. He's the one who actually make me like poetry.

Jeremy Taylor is alive and well and living in Y Trallwng (that's Welshpool to you and me!). He's still performing, and we had him at the Bedford Folk Club just a couple of months ago.

It's no wonder I haven't seen Malcom Stent for ages, though!

Steve (also still available!)

Having just read the thread concerning Jo Anne Kelly, and having recently pondered as to the whereabouts of various old friends, and people who I had the pleasure of getting to know at the Club I used to run, I came to the conclusion that, although we all move on; make new friends and, sometimes, loose touch with the old ones, their memory still lingers on and it would be nice if, perhaps, we could have stayed in touch....or are we always 'in touch' if they are still in our heads ? Anyway - I remebered such people as John Smith ( easy to place, hey ?!! ) who sang at the club with a friend of his (Dave) under the name of 'The Helmsmen' - great guys and superb singers. Major Wiley springs to mind - bluesman extraordinary, what's he up to these days? Jeremy Taylor, a very funny man, but where is he these days? And on a broader scale, the celebration of John Peel's 60th birthday on the TV, threw up another name - Bridget St. John. Any body know what she is doing these days, or any of the above named for that matter ? I only ask because I'd like to, in some small way, touch base with the people from my past, and of catch up with them, in a roundabout sort of way. It was all a long time ago, but we all build our futures on our past, and I'd like to do a little....personal archaeology, if you like. Thanks. Teller.
