Erin McKeown will be performing at Stone Soup Coffeehouse, off RT. 95, north of Providence and just south of the Massachusetts state line, on February 12, 2011. This concert starts at the special time of 7:00 PM with a Book Talk by author, Sarah Rainone.

Stone Soup is located at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 50 Park Place, Pawtucket, RI. Tickets are $15 in advance through PayPal or $17.00 at the door. Credit Cards can not be used at the door. (paypal link) You can use that link to access more information on Stone Soup's website.

Erin McKeown's latest CD, "Hundreds of Lions," At the center of the album, the song The Lions brims with bright piano, cathedral spire atmosphere and traces of carnival-noir pop as Erin sings, "There's a risk, there's a twist, in anything worth doing," with a voice clear and strong as glass ribbon. The album is lush but focused, that soars and dips: The Foxes breaks out a sunny, swishy singsong chorus; (Put the Fun Back in) The Funeral follows, a dark river of smothering murmurs and the hiss of subway grates.

McKeown has also been hosting a series of webcasts from her rural Massachusetts home.Listeners/viewers purchase tickets to "attend" this modern twist on old-school house parties. She has been joined by friends such as Kris Delmhorst, Sonya Kitchell, and Garrison Starr. The next one is scheduled for Super Bowl Sunday, February 5, 2011.

Sarah Rainone's novel, Love Will Tear Us Apart, is a nostalgic but unsentimental tale of growing up in a time when hip-hop, hair bands, and grunge played in the background. This is a darkly comic novel and tells the story of six childhood friends reunited at a wedding where secrets are revealed, hearts are broken, and new meaning is given to the phrase "You can't go home again." Love Will Tear Us Apart doesn't aim to capture some supposed "voice of a new generation" but rather tells the story of a generation more comfortable with letting music speak on its behalf.

Sarah Rainone is a freelance writer and editor, a native of Cranston, RI, and living in Brooklyn, NY. She is a bass player and improv student and has performed at The Blue Note (NY Jazz Club)and the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre (NY Improv and Comedy Theater).
