I've been asked to help spread the word on this so here are the details:

GUITAR FEST


The Guitar Festival Graham Steel of Jagz is organising at South Hill Park Arts Centre, Bracknell on Saturday 30th April featuring Antonio Forcione plus other great guitarists and sponsored by Broadway Music and Yamaha Music, tickets are on sale now and cost just £22.00 for the whole day including workshops and demonstrations if booked before the 1st April. Introduction

A Celebration of the most popular instrument in the world.

Taking place throughout the whole building with 4 performance spaces as well as workshops, demonstrations, lectures and a guitar shop, as well as an opportunity to win a Yamaha Guitar, this day is a must for not just guitarists but all music lovers.



Wilde Theatre- Evening Concert

7.30pm Antonio Forcione

Plus guests to be announced

Loved for his enigmatic personality, passion and extraordinary technique, Antonio entertains audiences beyond and above his phenomenal talent. Recently voted Italy's 'Musician of the Year', he has recorded 16 albums and performed with world-class musicians including Trilok Gurtu, Birelli Lagrene, Tommy Emmanuel and Andy Sheppard.



3.00pm – Yamaha Pro Music - Guitar Demonstration with Antonio Forcione

World class guitarist Antonio Forcione demonstrates the latest range of Yamaha guitars.

Cellar Bar Stage

12.00 – John Dignam

Young finger style guitarist from South Wales.



12.40pm- Andy Broad

Finger picking and bottle neck Blues guitarist.



1.20pm – Jakoba

Reading-based Blues /Rock band featuring guitarist Jamie Sandison.



2.00pm -Lewis Cohen

Authentic pre-war blues from this fantastic singer/ guitarist.



2.40pm -John Wheatcroft Trio

John Wheatcroft is a well respected guitarist, author and journalist who will be performing a set of Gypsy Jazz and Swing with his trio.



3.20pm – Byron Johnston

Byron Johnstone's performances encompass and evoke elements of contemporary, world and flamenco music.   



4.00pm – Paul McKee & Ian Marris

Local finger style guitarist Paul McKee and telecaster legend Ian Marris have combined forces to produce an all acoustic extravaganza.



4.40pm – Sonny Black

Performing a variety of intimate, soulful acoustic/slide guitar instrumentals and songs.



5.30pm – Dan Arborise

Dan's tender and haunting voice is the perfect match for his evocative and rhythmic guitar-picking.





Recital Room Stage

2pm – Tom Gamble

Currently studying at Trinity College of Music, Tom specialises in solo classical and jazz playing styles



3pm – Gill Holdsworth

Gill Holdsworth is a solo finger style guitarist based in Buckinghamshire.



4pm – Mike Dawes & Amy Turk

Mike Dawes & Amy Turk are the only steel string guitar and concert harp duo in the world today.



5pm – Roland Chadwick

Roland Chadwick has been hailed as a guitarist's guitarist by the likes of John Renbourn and Tommy Emmanuel.



Band Stage – Cellar Bar

8pm- Neverify + 2 more bands tba

Featuring rock-metal band Neverify, recent winners of Maidenhead Live 2009, are taking Berkshire by storm.



Workshops- Studio Theatre

10.30am- Byron Johnston

An introduction into the possibilities of the guitar from this unique performer, this demonstration will look at different styles, techniques as well as effects. A must for beginners as well musicians who are interested in developing their skills.



12.00pm – John Wheatcroft

Gypsy Jazz guitar workshop in   the style of Django Reinhardt and his contemporaries. Topics include

Creating the right sound with an acoustic guitar, Gypsy picking techniques, Rhythm ideas,Decorating a melody and, Building soloing vocabulary over the chord changes.



2.00pm – Dale Harris

This solo lecture-recital features Dale's original arrangements of popular songs, some of the techniques discussed and demonstrated are wide-ranging; from classical approaches to the more modern stances as taken by contemporary acoustic guitarists.



4.00pm – Andy Broad

Workshop - Slide Guitar In Standard Tuning
The workshop will cover choice of key, chord shapes, string damping etc. Bring a guitar and a bottle neck to get involved or just watch and ask questions...



12.00 - Acoustic Stage - Atrium

All day open mic stage hosted by Andy White who is a singer songwriter, blues and finger style guitarist, with just a long and loving relationship for the instrument, forever amazed by what is achievable on it! To book a slot to perform visit our website www.guitarfestival.webs.com .



10.00 am- Jamming/ Improvisation area

Open for all acoustic musicians to meet, jam and improvise.



Guitar Shop

Broadway Music will be running a music shop with a wide range of acoustic guitars, specialist amplifiers and accessories. Brands will include Atkin, Breedlove, Huss & Dalton, Maton, SR Technology and Yairi. In conjunction with co-sponsor Yamaha, Broadway will have on sale a range of the new NCX and NTX nylon string guitars as played by Antonio Forcione.



Guitar making

Luthier Paul Mckee will be onsite throughout the day to demonstrate and discuss the art of guitar making.
